Managed the selection and implementation of the Fortinet Learning Center, the online campus for Fortinet customers, partners and employees. I developed the standards and best practices for content development and architected the learning center on top of SumTotal's Maestro LMS.
Fortinet Core Curriculum Modularization - Working as the instructional designer on Fortinet's international training team, I guided the conversion of 2 monolithic instructor-led courses to 21 skills-based courses leading to 2 levels of certification.
Converted Fortinet's in-house Moodle-based LMS to a hosted solution, providing better reliability and scaled the audience from hundreds to thousands of learners.
Managed Blue Coat's Technical and New Product training. Through competencies and gap analysis, developed a curriculum that was focused on job mastery.
Led teams to develop multiple Blue Coat technical certifications. Developed case studies and challenges that enabled Blue Coat to effectively raise the level of competence for internal and external pre-sales and support engineers.
Provided Instructional Design and Development expertise to Blue Coat's SE Enablement Team. Designed and management the development of BlueCoat's SE Enablement Boot Camp for Acceleration. Established competencies, created course design and oversaw development methods. Worked with sponsors and SMEs to develop coursework. Worked with vendors to create and implement certification pre-work. Rolled out Train-The-Trainer for BlueCoat's new partner certification program.
Designed and management the development of three-level certification program for Aruba Networks: ACMA (associate) ACMP (professional) and ACMX (expert). Worked with SMEs, sponsors, vendors and partners to establish Aruba's channel SE certification program.
Moved Aruba's training from three-day, lecture intensive course to more than 11 courses that were hands-on, solution focused and led to three levels of certification. Designed and managed the development of online courses, advanced and troubleshooting courses, new technology courses and new support tools using media and alternative deliveries.
Designed and developed training for new Product Support Engineers. Through simulation, case studies and lab problems, students learn VMware support tools, proper problem isolation, data gathering, diagnostics and problem escalation processes. Worked with SMEs to identify and document reference cases and created classroom and lab materials.

Developed and delivered Sun's course on the procedures and processes for publishing on Sun's External web site, sun.com. Targeted at anyone responsible for any part of the web publication process, the course covers technical, editorial, and process skills and knowledge.
Designed and developed technical sales and support training on all-optical switch technology. Targeting internal and external sales and technical support, the course covers installation, setup, provisioning and troubleshooting of Calient's intelligent, all-photonic switching systems and software.
Delivered intensive core skills course for new Sun employees being integrated from Sun's acquisition of Cobalt Networks and Chilisoft in Bellevue, WA.
Developed product update training for Sun's field sales force. Working with marketing and product management, created a series of presentations updating the field on Sun Java software technologies and processes, markets, and sales strategies.
Delivered training on Sun's internal processes and tools for Pacific Rim countries. During a week tour through Hong Kong, Guangzhou PRC and Tokyo Japan, trained audiences from throughout the greater Asia area to help implement a standardized world-wide sales processes.
Developed a two day leader-led training course for pre-sales support engineers. Atmosphere Networks sells high-speed Fiber Optics Add/Drop Multiplexers combining data, telephone, and other services using ATM over SONET networks. This hands-on course covers ATM and SONET technology basics, product orientation, product installation, configuration and provisioning, and high-speed network applications development.
Continued revising and teaching HTML Basics for Sun Microsystems. Now in its fifth year, this course continues to draw full classes and excellent reviews. Since 1995 I've taught over 4500 Sun employees how to create web pages. A combination of demonstrations and structured hands-on activities, this course helps employees increase their value to the organization by teaching them a Sun core competency.
Helped Forte Employees transition to Sun Microsystems by teaching essential employee tools and skills required in the Sun environment. With the acquisition of Forte, Sun gained the most complete Java and enterprise integration tools in the industry. The customized Surviving at Sun course was delivered at Forte's Oakland site to help ensure the transition took place with as little disruption as possible.
Trained Sun Financial Systems Institute's US instructors in classroom facilitation skills. Course goal was to provide subject matter experts with instructional design background and platforms skills required to teach internal Sun classes.
Trained Sun Financial Systems Institute's European instructors in classroom facilitation skills. Topics included adult learning theory, presentation techniques, classroom management and coaching techniques.
Developed new-hire sales training on Sun Software. Topics included Solaris, Java, Consumer and Embedded Software, Internetworking products and Sun sales processes. Course modules are simulation-based and integrated into Sun's Field New Hire Training programs.
Revised internal product training course to reflect new products and technologies. Activities include working with Intel project management, development of new classroom activities, and coordinating information flow and project processes. More information available on request.
Revised SunU's HTML Basics course (see 1995) to incorporate HTML 3.2 specification. Created new lecture and labs for Web Forms and Cascading Style Sheets. Revised existing modules and worked with SunU to incorporate additional self-paced Internet courseware into SunU's curriculum.
Designed and developed a two day leader-led course for Oracle Sales Consultants. Course goal is to integrate Oracle Net8 products into the sales cycle and position Oracle middleware products as a desirable solution to customer challenges. The course combines technical knowledge and sales skills in a variety of class activities. Technical topics include basic networking theory, Oracle's SQL*Net and Net8 products, tuning, and troubleshooting. Sales skills are developed through a series of sales scenarios and classroom activities.
Designed and developed a three day leader-led training for Oracle sales force. This course teaches products, opportunities and processes. Through the use of multiple media and classroom simulation, the student experiences the Oracle sales process in a controlled environment. When returning to the field, the employee is better prepared to communicate Oracle's vision and execute Oracle's successful processes.
Developed on-line, web-based training on a proprietary tool for Sun's Architecture, Tools and Technology Group. Created design documents, outlines, drafts, graphics, and beta material on the web to allow collaboration across geographic and platform differences within the team.
Developed on-line, web-based training on Internationalization (i18n) and Localization (l10n) for SunSoft's Architecture, Tools and Technologies group. As instructional designer working with Sun's Global Products Engineering Group, created training to help Sun's engineering community create global-ready products.
As a follow on for Net Day '96, developed and delivered HTML Basics training to institute webmasters. Also delivered course for Lowell Schools in Massachusetts. Sponsored by Sun Microsystems, trained teachers in web page creation using HTML. Integrated HTML skills into use of templates and curriculum developed as part of Sun's Community Action Volunteer's group.
Developed on-line, web-based training on QC/Coverage for SunSoft's Architecture, Tools and Technologies group. As instructional designer working with SunU, SunSoft, and CenterLine Corporation, developed training for SunSoft engineers in the application and use of quality analysis tools to measure programming quality.
Developed on-line, web-based training on FileMerge a SunSoft development tool. As instructional designer working with SunU and SunSoft, conducted analysis, developed storyboards, wrote content, developed graphics and treatments and coded core content for this site.

In partnership with Sun Microsystems, developed a two-day teacher training program for the Santa Clara County Office of Education. Delivered the Train-the-Trainer program to mentor teachers and administrative personnel.
Developed and delivered a half day lab course for Sun Microsystems teaching the HyperText Markup Language and its use in creating World Wide Web pages. Through a series of structured exercises, students convert a FrameMaker file to a Web page, adding hypertext links, graphics, tables and forms.
Developed and delivered this half day course teaching World Wide Web concepts, use of Mosaic and Netscape, search facilities and simple HTML concepts. Through a series of activities, students explore Sun's internal Web site, learn about security and policies, use search engines to find information on the World Wide Web and create a simple home page.
This two day course teaches new SunService employees how to use the custom tools they will use in their job. Through lecture, demonstration and structured simulation exercises, students learn how to efficiently use six new workstation-based customer support tools.
Sponsored by Sun Microsystems, this two day teacher training workshop for the Santa Clara County Office of Education taught teachers in K-12 schools how to integrate World Wide Web technology into their curriculum. The workshop teaches skills and provided sample lesson plans for a wide variety of subjects, ensuring the technology is incorporated across all subjects.
This two day course for SunSoft programmers teaches how to develop or modify programs to make them adhere to I18N standards, ensuring the program can be localized for any country or locale world-wide. Through a series of samples and structured exercises, programmers develop functional programs that run in multiple languages with a variety of character and code sets.
This two day developer conference for Sega of America introduced third party developers to a new game platform using new technologies. Seminars included RISC programming techniques, Saturn Hardware Overview, Video Display Programming, Development Tools and other technical topics.
These two-day seminars targeted to Sega developers working on first release game titles introduced new technologies for game programmers. Working with Sega subject matter experts developed a training program and series of information transfers to convey product information as the machine was under development.
Project managed and coordinated a team of instructional designers and writers for SRI International to develop a three-tier program for aspiring PGA golf professionals. Courses covered all aspects of becoming a golf professional including teaching golf, merchandising, the business of running a golf facility and developing new audiences.
